Part IV: the finale

(We had a fun time at the ocean this past weekend. The weather was gor-geous, hot and lovely. I will post pictures of that another day. Yesterday it was super hot again and instead of doing all the camping laundry (why would i want to do that???) we took off for the beach with Crystal and the kids. Oh how I love the beach, water and sun and not having a schedule to follow. We have 3 weeks of summer left and I hope the weather stays nice so we can take advantage of doing nothing)
Kenzie worked so hard on her sand castle ~
Matt and Cavan making a lego man ~
Reece's girlfriend, Haley, was there too. I guess she saw us get there and covered her face and hid. She didn't want Reece to "see her like this"
They're so cute.
Here's another shot of them talking... I had to be sneaky.
Tayler's my little fish ~
Kenzie's finished castle. After hours of working she finally got in the water and it was promptly smashed by a passing child. Bummer!

Now for the final part IV ~ Pearl Harbor.
It was another scorcher but we knew it was important for the kids to see and understand the importance of what happened there.
Heading out onto the Bowfin submarine ~
and inside ~ it's amazing how tight and cramped everything is.
The blue bags were for the sailors clothes. There weren't enough beds for everyone so 1/2 the men would be working while the other 1/2 were sleeping, then at the end of the shift they'd trade off.

the para scopes ~
Heading out to see the USS Arizona memorial ~
The oil is still leaking out from the ship ~
Heading home hot and tired...
And here we are REALLY heading home... can you see how thrilled we are to be leaving???
What an awesome trip this was. I'm so thankful we were able to take all the kids before Matthew leaves on his mission in a little over a year!
