Last week

It's such a relief last week is over. This prom has taken over my (therefore everybody's) life. In between life's madness it's just non-stop planning, gathering, sewing, calling, emailing, shopping, building and going over my little notebook 100 times.

Here's last week in a nutshell ~

Monday: worked on prom stuff in my freezing garage from 9-3. I had to run food to robotics and run Kenzie to rehearsal from 5:30-8:30. Matt is working over-time on the robot and doesn't get home til midnight or later every night.

Tuesday: Prom in the morning. Matt & Tayler both had Dr. appointments and there was a meeting at the high school for running start. Thankfully Kurt took Reece so I could just sew table cloths all night.

Wednesday: Another prom meeting, finishing more stuff. Kenzie had rehearsal from 3-6. That night there was a concert at the high school Matthew and Kenzie sang. I had to pick up Kenzie from rehearsal and get her there on time some how fitting dinner in. I was laying on the couch unable to move when my lovely, lovely son offered to pick up his sister for me. I could've cried I was so relieved - and I got a 15 minute nap. Did wonders. Kurt worked late, and when I say late, I mean all night. He has deadlines from both jobs. He made the one Friday, but there's one every 2 weeks so there's never a break.

Thursday: Prom in the morning. Kenzie had an ortho appointment, then voice & piano. They told me it would be an hour appointment. Nope. 2 hours. I needed to get some shopping done but was reluctant to leave because last time I did, she texted me right away. So I stayed, and after an hour was thinking I could've gone, but it's probably almost over. Then after 1 1/2 hours, then 2 hours I was thinking, you're kidding me right? I was trying to look on the bright side that I got to catch up on some magazines and not dwell on the fact that it was 2 hours wasted.... I had to reschedule voice lessons to Friday. I'm so thankful her teacher is flexible! After piano lessons, there was another concert at the high school Matt and Tayler sang. In the past the district concert was on just one night. This was the longest concert in HISTORY. 5 elementary choirs, 4 middle school choirs, 3 junior high choirs, and 4 high school choirs. then they would all sing together. We dreaded it every year. This year they split it up... and when you have 3 kids in 3 different school choirs you get to go 2 nights in a row and hear lots of the same songs. Kurt worked late again.

Friday: Prom most of the day. Kenzie's voice at 3 then rehearsal 5:30-7. Kurt got home early and when I got home from voice at 3:45 we crashed for 2 hours. Or I should say I crashed.... he tried. Reece wanted a ride to the skate barn and he was nice and got up to take him. I did not change positions for 2 hours. My alarm didn't go off to take Kenzie to rehearsal - Kurt called to make sure I was leaving and that thankfully woke me up. Kenzie and I flew to the school and when Kurt and I got home we went on a much needed date with Brock & Crystal.

Saturday: It was stake conference weekend. Kurt spent the day at robotics with Matthew - I think they got home at 3am. I tried to relax and spend time with the kids. It was nice.

Sunday: Stake conference was good. Kurt and I met the projector guy before he took it down so we can test our movie out. It worked and that's a relief. He was telling me how the church has a new policy about not setting up stuff too high and I panicked because um, that's our plan! I was stressing but Kurt said not to worry about it, it'll be fine, so I'm trying not to. I laid out the red carpet and it looked awesome, and hung signs on the gym doors saying the gym will be closed this coming week. Check, check, check! That's my favorite part, checking stuff off my list. Then mom had us down for a delicious dinner so I didn't have to cook. Thank you MOM!

Phew! This week is less hectic. Shopping today for the rest of the stuff we need and tomorrow putting thank you gifts together. Wednesday I'll be packing everything up to take over there Thursday. The kids don't have much going on - just robotics and work for Matthew (but he can drive himself... SO nice) and rehearsal for Kenzie. Her first performance is the day of prom so Kurt will be handling that. For this play each parent is supposed to volunteer 5 hours. I had to tell the volunteer person about the prom and there's just no way, but maybe the matinee on the 19th I could help. Well, turns out that's the Seattle robotics competition and I'm not missing that. Will they kick Kenzie out of the play if her mom doesn't fulfill her 5 hours??? : ( Maybe there's something I can do the week between performances.

We're setting up Thursday from 2-late, Friday 10-5 (the adults are having a dance that night and using our decorations) and Saturday 9-5. These are the times we have set... hopefully we get enough help that it gets done faster. Oh please oh please. The dance starts at 6:30 and I hope we get to enjoy it before we have to tear it all down at 11.

Next Sunday is my nephew Harrison's farewell. He's going to Knoxville, TN.

One little week from today it'll all be over and my plan is to stay in bed ALL DAY!
