Catching up

I suppose it's time to change my blog back to boring normal... but I just can't bring myself to do it. I'm not taking Christmas down until Tuesday when the kids go back to school. Christmas time always goes by way to quickly and our vacation was a ton of fun. I love sleeping in and staying up late, going to a movie just about every night with Kurt and eating way too much. It's going to be hard getting back into our routine of school, etc... but it might be nice to have a schedule back.

Every year about 5 days before Christmas day Kurt and the kids get antsy for presents and then we talk it over and realize it's better to wait. However, Christmas day at our house is super hectic: (who's isn't, right?) get up and open gifts, quickly eat, shower and run off to Grandma's til after midnight, come home exhausted to a house you can't even walk through. Christmas Eve, on the other hand, is completely empty. SO... we came up with having Christmas morning chaos on Christmas Eve. We put it to a vote on the 23rd and all but Kenzie was excited about it. So, that night after the kids were in bed Kurt and I quickly set up everything and we had a lovely, leisurely time opening our gifts on the 24th. After we were done we got to stay home all day, eat at our own pace, and play with all the new stuff. Christmas morning we slept in, and got to moms with time to spare and we weren't falling asleep while we were there! It is our new tradition. I LOVE coming up with our own traditions, and it might not last forever, but it works for us now.

Kurt and I also did something fun and different for our gifts to each other. We spelled out CHRISTMAS with our gifts. It was a fun thing to do, a little challenging, and it was supposed to limit us (Kurt) to what we bought, but it didn't really. We love to spoil each other!

This is what I gave Kurt:
C - Cologne
H - Hoody & Hot pants (jeans I think look really good on him :)
R - Robot (what else?)
I - Iphone charger
S - Shirts & Sweaters
T - The Office on DVD
M - Man Movies (Dark Knight & The Mummy)
A - Agricola (a fun game I found online)
S - We shared this last "S" and took 2 nights away at Salish Lodge. Our favorite.

This is what Kurt gave me:
C - Coat (I bought this one myself. It's so pretty!)
H - Hair dye and Hand warmers (gloves)
R - Rubbermaid containers
I - Iphone
S - SLR camera (I LOVE it!)
T - Tuning for the piano
M - Mama Mia
A - Automatic grommet press (I LOVE this one too! We put grommets in our purses and this punches the fabric AND squeezes the grommets all in one. FABULOUS!)
S - Salish Lodge.
The kids got Ipods and other stuff...
New Years was fun too. Kurt and I used to go out and leave the kids with food, hats and party blowers but now we have to stay home and go pick them up and wait up for them. Actually, only Matthew left us this year to go to the Stake Dance. Reece refused. Maybe next year... My parents came over and we played games and ate all night. Kenzie made this crown out of her Benderoo's and made us all model it. (The boys were absolutely THRILLED)
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
