The kids are off to school for another year and the house is too quiet. The boys were out the door together for seminary at 6 and Kenzie soon followed at 6:40. Tayler was up and ready when Kenzie left and she had an hour to wait. We waited, straightened her hair, made her lunch and thought, ok. We should go now. We were walking and saw a bus outside our neighborhood so we started running... but then our friend was driving towards us and told us we missed it. Bummer. Back home we went and got in the car. We arrived at the middle school before there were kids in the courtyard so we waited a while. We watched different kids as they were dropped off and finally a bus appeared so Tayler wanted to go. I know she didn't know any of the kids that were there yet, but she was brave. I had to be brave too... Driving her the first day was (as Julia Roberts says in Pretty Woman: Big mistake. Big. HUGE.) I held it together til I was out of the parking lot. My baby standing there looking for friends, surrounded by clicky 7th graders was more than I could handle! I cried a little more driving back home seeing all the little kids waiting to go to the elementary school. I tell ya, time is the weirdest thing. I feel the same as I did when we moved into this house 10 years ago, so I guess that's why I feel like my kids should still be small. Every time I see how grown up they are it's a shock. I don't know if my brain will ever catch up! 3 of them are in new schools. Oh I hope they have a good day. I can't wait to hear.

Kenzie's back pack... she's been working on all summer. She hand sewed some of my scraps onto her back pack from last year. Too cute and TOO talented!
Tayler the 6th grader.
