I guess my goal of once a week didn't quite work out for me. Oh well. We had a lovely Christmas and New Year's week of games, family, friends, and WAY too much food.
My be-u-tiful new plates. They make me smile.
We had Cody's family and Brock's family over for Christmas Eve-Eve lunch.
I love setting a pretty table. SO fun!
That night we delivered neighbor gifts and Reece dressed the part...
Our Christmas morning is the 24th so we can have a day to relax and play with our new stuff. Christmas day we go to my parent's with the whole fam. The kids were happy with their gifts - Kurt and I didn't think it was enough but it of course was. I think after turning our playroom into a theater last year anything would seem small. I am typing this from my new MacBook Air and it makes me oh-so-happy. : ) No more getting kicked off the computer for the kids to do their homework and I can sit on my comfy couch. Mixed in with clothes, movies and games... Matthew got a new laptop, Reece a skateboard and drawing supplies and instructional CD's, Kenzie wanted a pink barbie bug, so she got it! It's her "future car" and wants to have it on display. Tayler got a camera. Both girls also got pillow pets - I know... but it was fun for me to buy toys again. Kurt got clothes and some movies. I got new running shoes and gift cards and the family got a kinnect. It's a blast!
Reece opening his drawing DVD's. He wanted them but didn't think he'd get them -
Matthew only asked for 1 video game so his new laptop was a fun surprise too.
The Monday after Christmas I went to the Nutcracker with the girls, our friends, my mom and sister in law and her kids. It was really fun - I haven't been I think since I was a Girl Scout.
Kenzie's voice recital was the 29th and she did great. That night Kurt and I took off for our annual stay at Salish Lodge.
This is one of my favorite traditions! We returned Friday for New Year's. We stayed home that night and Brock and Crystal and my parents came over. The 3 older kids went to the stake dance and Tayler had a friend over. We played games and AGAIN ate WAY too much. It was nice and low-key.
Now all the decorations are down and the house is back to normal again. Kids are back to school, and Kurt at work. January is a little boring, but that's ok! My friend and I were asked to co-chair the 4 stake Priest/Laurel prom in March. Holy moly it's HUGE - dinner and dance for over 200 kids. We're getting it figured out but I guess January won't be that boring after all!
